LAHORE The Punjab University spokesman stated that the activists of Islami Jamiat Tulba thrashed PU employees and broke the locks of gate No 4 twice on Tuesday. According to the statement, the IJT activists called their armed companions from two external colleges and waved weapons to threaten the employees. The IJT activists tore the posters pasted by the varsity and using unfair means to sabotage the education-friendly activity of the administration, the statement added. PU book fair on 12:The Punjab University will launch 3-day book fair on May 12 in the main corridor of the Institute of Education & Research (IER). The publishers/book-sellers/organizations dealing in computer are invited to participate in the book fair. For booking of stalls, applications can be submitted in the offices of Prof Dr Hafiz Mahmood Akhtar, the Faculty of Islamic Studies Dean at Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre New Campus, the Faculty of Oriental Learning Dean at Oriental College, Old Campus, and Chief Librarian Muhammad Hanif by May 7, 2011. Open auction will be conducted for first ten stalls. PhD prof rejoins PU: Punjab Universitys Institute of Geology Assistant Professor Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmad on Tuesday re-joined the Institute after having completed his MSc and PhD degrees in earth sciences from the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Windsor Ontario Canada, a statement issued said.
