LAHORE Punjab Archaeology Department (PAD) will take over 151 monuments of Punjab province in accordance with the devolution plan of Federal Archaeology Department (FAD) under the 18th amendment of the constitution, The Nation reliably learnt on Tuesday. It has been decided during a meeting of different departments secretaries held on Monday that the PAD will take over in 10 days the monuments of 16 districts of the province including Lahore, Attock, Bahawalpur, Chiniot, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Jhang, Jhelum Khanewal, Mian Wali Multan, Muzaffargarh, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Sahiwal. Some A category monuments to be taken over by PAD are included Attock Tomb Attock, Buddist Site Hasan Abdal, Noor Mehal Bahawalpur, Derawar Fort Cholistan, Tomb of Musa Pak Shaeeed Bahawalpur Uch Sharif, Tomb of Shah Burhan Chinot, Ghazi Khan Tomb DG Khan, Shah Masjid Jhang, Rohtas Fort Jhelum, Tobm of Khalid Walid Khanewal, Mosque of Nawab Zakariya Khan Lahore, Angoori Bagh Lahore, Jani Khans Tomb Lahore, Mariam Zamani Mosque Lahore, Buddhas Tomb Lahore, Hazoori Bagh Lahore, Samadh of Ranjit Singh Karak Singh and Nau Nihal Singh Lahore, Wazir Khans Mosque, Chauburji Lahore, Dai Angas Mosque Lahore, Tomb of Mir Meharban Multan, Tomb of Shah Yusuf Gardezi Multan, Tomb of Patrick Alexander Vana, Andrew and William Anderson Multan, Tomb of Shams Tabraiz Mutlan, Tomb of Sheikh Sadan Shaheed Muzaffargarh, A Red Sand Stone Temple Sargodha, Sheikhupuar Fort and Tibba Jolian Sialkot. It may be mentioned here that the PAD will get the ownership of the Lahore Fort and Shalamar Garden under the current devolution plan whereas in past the department had only administrative control of both the monuments. An official of the department disclosed that they had completed the survey of all Punjab province monuments and examined their current condition. He said the Federal Archaeology Department was doing projects on different sights worth Rs 1350 million including Rohtas Fort project of Rs 500 million, Hiran Minar project of Rs 116 million and Jahangirs Tomb of Rs 460 million. He said FAD had completed about 20 percent work with consumption of 270 million. However, he said, it had not been decided yet that which government would provide the funds for the ongoing projects.
