TOBA TEK SINGH - Death toll from the other night armed attack has reached to five following the death of another injured indentified as Haji Shahid who was under treatment at Shorkot Cantonment hospital.

Moreover, thousands of people attended the funeral for five deceased in Chak 332/GB Jakhra here on Thursday.

It is to be noted that four unidentified motorcyclists attacked and killed four people and injured ten other here in Chak 332/GB near Chuttiana Wednesday night.

DPO Ahsan Younis, MPAs - Mian Rafiq and Ayub Gadhi, former federal minister Asadur Rehman and former district nazim Ch Ashfaq also attended the funeral.

Earlier, RPO Aftab Cheema visited the village and condoled with the bereaved families. He assured that killers would be arrested soon. He ordered to set up a police post in the village for which land will be provided by villagers and funds for construction of building will be provided by MPA Mian Rafiq from his special grant.

According to villagers, they incident occurred when the villagers, sitting at the Chowk, were attacked by four armed bikes-borne assailants. Resultantly, four people died instantly while about 14 injured. The deceased were later identified as Naseer, Younis, Amer and Javed.

Meanwhile, DPO Ahsan Younis suspected that the accused might have planned the attack for the night prayers time. However, they failed to carry out the plan and had to attack the villagers when they were sitting at the Chowk,” he added.

The district police officer termed the incident an act of terror, saying that apparently it looked that the accused were the relatives of the nine dacoits who had been killed by people of the village two year ago.

It seems it was a retaliatory action taken by the relatives of the deceased dacoits to avenge their deaths,” he suspected. The DPO confirmed that four persons had died and six other injured in the incident.

However, according Rescue 1122, the injured were more than one dozen, out of them six injured were admitted to Toba DHQ Hospital, one was referred to Faisalabad Allied Hospital and six were admitted to Pirmahal Rural Health Centre.

Some the injured with minor injuries are also reported to have been discharged after first aid from hospitals.
