ISLAMABAD - Senator Farhatullah Babar on Thursday said in the Senate that by asking Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani to resign, even before the judicial process has not completed its course, amounted to using judiciary for subverting the mandate of the people.

The senior PPP stalwart taking part in the debate on President Asif Ali Zardari’s March 17 address to the joint session, said that the April 26 verdict was like raising the arm by the judiciary but not giving the blow and the Prime Minister did not stand disqualified through the short order.

The Court did not seek disqualification of the Prime Minister but hinted that it may entail his disqualification. The Supreme Court order is more like raising its arm threatening to give the blow but it did not give the blow, he said.

On that day a section of the people also spoke and they spoke differently.

The people of PP 194 in Multan were writing a different history and giving a different verdict.
