LAKKI MARWAT - A man was killed and his two relatives sustained bullet injuries when they came under a firing attack by their rivals near Manjiwala Chowk on Thursday.
The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of Lakki Marwat Police Station. An injured person Anwar Kamal told police in his preliminary report that he along with his uncle Mamoor Khan and other relatives Saber Khan, Naseer Khan and Anwar Khan left village Nar Muhammad Ghaznikhel to attend courts in judicial complex. “When we reached near Manjiwala chowk our rivals already sitting in ambush opened firing on us, killing Mamoor Khan on the spot”, he told, saying that he and his relative Saber Khan sustained bullet wounds and were taken to Naurang civil hospital.
He nominated Burhanullah, Zakaullah, Imranullah, Rizwanullah and Zahid Khan in the FIR for committing the heinous crime. A police official said that the victim and accused parties had a blood feud with each other.
He said the body of slain Mamoor Khan was handed over to the heirs after fulfilling out medico-legal formalities in Lakki City hospital.
He told that police registered a case under section 302, 324, 148 and 149 PPC and started investigation.
Meanwhile, police launched an awareness drive on Thursday with the aim to educate people to get their vehicles and motorbikes registered with the concerned department. On the directives of DPO Umar Riaz the district police administration displayed banners in public places asking people to avoid plying unregistered vehicles on roads and get them registered as soon as possible.
An official said that people should possess registration documents of their vehicles and motorcycles to avoid facing any inconvenience by local police. “The drivers, transporters and people from all walks of life should also comply with traffic rules and laws”, he maintained.
Meanwhile, Wapda Retired Employees Association has warned the higher authorities concerned of launching protest campaign if they do not accept their demands till May 15. The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting held in the office of Pesco Superintending Engineer in Bannu on Thursday.
