KARACHI – The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) on Thursday warned the Pakistan Public Works Department (PWD) of disconnection of water supply if it did not clear its outstanding bill of Rs419.1 million within seven days.

According to a statement, the KWSB sent final notice to the PWD for payment of the outstanding dues; otherwise water supply to its offices and residential colonies would be severed.

The PWD’ Saddar office barracks KCC-I owes the KWSB Rs20.57 million, KCC-III Saddar office Rs110.57 million, Garden office barracks KCC-IV and residential area Rs10.67 million, KCC-V Rs5.63 million, Matron quarter and Pakistan Quarter KCC-1X Rs190 million.

KWSB Managing Director Misbhauddin Fareed said the department was facing a financial crisis, and “we need the bills to be cleared to pay salaries, medical funds”.

He said the KWSB had launched a recovery campaign against defaulters to address its financial problems.
