ISLAMABAD - A resolution presented by a convicted prime minister in the National Assembly is unconstitutional and against the 18th constitutional amendment, stated former information minister Mohammed Ali Durrani in a statement issued here on Thursday.

The leader of the Restoration of Bahawalpur Province Movement said that Yousuf Raza Gilani, who used to make speeches for Seraiki province, while presenting the resolution for a South Punjab province has forgotten the Seraiki-speaking people of Dera Ismail Khan, Sindh and Balochistan and this proves that this is only political gimmickry. Durrani strongly supported the resolution by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for the restoration of Bahawalpur province. He said Gilani has for fourth time betrayed the people of Bahawalpur despite his promise for the province and added that the opponents of restoration of Bahawalpur province will end up in jails and will face the same fate Yahya Khan met. He said that despite the support of all the nationalist forces from Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Fata, other political parties including PML-N, JUI-F, JI and the resolution in the Senate, the people of Bahawalpur strongly reject the notion of being included into any other province.

He said we, the followers of Quaid-e-Azam and Nawab Sadiq Khan Abbasi, shall continue forward with our movement for the restoration of Bahawalpur province and asked all their followers to stay united. He said very soon leaders of all the four new provinces, Bahawalpur, South Punjab, Hazara and FATA, will meet in Islamabad and draw their future line of action. He said it is the constitutional, historical and Lawful right of the people of Bahawalpur province, likewise it is the right of the people of DI Khan and Multan to have a province. He said any effort to pitch the people of Bahawalpur against the people of DI Khan and Multan will fail.
