An independent candidate from NA-46 Khyber Agency Qadar Khan Afridi on Friday withdrew in favour of former MNA Haji Muhammad Shah Afridi.

The announcement he made during a news conference at the press club.

On the occasion, Qadar Khan Afridi said that he had decided to contest election independently from NA-46 against the people who did nothing for the welfare and development of the tribal people during last five years. “More than 24 candidates will contest election from NA-46, Khyber Agency,” he informed, adding looking to the struggle of Shah Afridi for tribesmen he decided to off from the run in the constituency and support an honest and devoted person. Flanked by Shah Afrdi, he appealed his friends and supporters to vote Shah on May 11 for a better change in the area. “I have taken the decision in the best interest of the people and area aimed to stop the success of those politicians who had been ignored the miseries-stricken masses after success in elections,” he maintained.

Speaking on the occasion, Afridi, former MNA and candidate from NA-46 Khyber agency, hailed the decision of Khan in his favour and vowed to resolve all the issues of the area if voted to power in elections. “I am also thankful of all religious scholars and Ulema of the area for supporting him in elections,” he said. Shah Afridi also urged upon other candidates to quit from election race in the best interest of people of the constituency.

He vowed to take every possible steps for the restoration of sustainable peace in Khyber Agency, especially in tehsil Bara ‘if voted to power.

When asked about the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman’s letter to president for the removal of Khyber Governor for his alleged involvement in pre-polls rigging in Bajaur Agency, Shah expressed ignorance about the matter. He, however, said that if any official of the political administration was favouring any candidate in Bara Khyber Agency, then masses would reject the elections.
