lakki marwat -

An independent candidate for PK-76 (Lakki Marwat-III) backed by Achukhel tribe Gul Aslam Khan on Friday withdrew in favour of PML-N contender Akhtar Munir Khan Marwat on Friday.

He made announcement to this effect at a big public meeting held at his residence in Begukhel village. Gul Aslam Khan, the son of former MPA late Mashal Khan also announced to support Saifullah brothers and their ally Akhtar Munir on the sole National Assembly and three provincial assembly seats. The occasion was attended among others by candidates for National Assembly NA-27, Salim Saifullah Khan, candidate for PK-76, Akhtar Munir Marwat, former MNA Humayun Saifullah Khan and elders of the district. “The withdrawal of Gul Aslam Khan from polls arena strengthened the position of Salim Saifullah Khan, his brother Anwar Saifullah Khan and Akhtar Munir Marwat,” said a local political analyst.  He said that with the support of Achu and Begu tribes influential Saifullahs and their ally Akhtar Munir would try their best to win elections on one National and three provincial assembly seats.

The new development regarding withdrawal of Gul Aslam Khan from election race and extending support to Saifullah brothers is a serious blow to JUI-F aspirants,” he told.  He said that influential Saifullahs were fully prepared to cash the new political development and take advantage of the situation. An elder of Begukhel tribe Khanzada Ahmad Jan Khan said at the public meeting that Begukhel elders held successful talks with Saifullah brothers and decided to support them.

He told that an elder of Tore Gund (without naming Haji Aslam Khan) shattered/broke Achu alliance by joining hands with an imported candidate Maulana Fazalur Rehman. “This was not acceptable to us because our tribe cannot support a non local candidate,” he maintained.

In his speech Salim Saifullah said that the withdrawal of Gul Aslam Khan and unconditional support of his tribe would prove beneficial for the residents of entire district. “We are not power hungers nor can we put our strong political traditions and values on tip of shoes just for the sake of reaching the corridors of power,” he maintained.

He said that any non-local candidate could not win the support of people on mere promises and hollow slogans.

He told that the alliance of Begukhel, Sikandarkhel and Ghaznikhel tribes would oust Maulana Fazalur Rehman and candidates backed by his party from area politics. Akhtar Munir Marwat of PML-N also spoke on the occasion. Former MNA Humayun Saifullah Khan, former tehsil nazim advocate Fareedullah Khan, ex-city nazim Ishfaq Ahmad Khan Meenakhel, Chief of Takhtikhel Abdul Ghafoor Khan and Pir Mushtaq Zakori were also in the attendance.
