A lawyer and a cop among four people were gunned down here on Friday.

A policeman of crime branch was shot dead in Awami Colony police remits.

Police said that Orangzaib Khattak, resident of the same area, was posted in Crime Branch. He was standing near his residence when some gunmen targeted him.

He sustained bullet wounds and died on the way to hospital. Police handed over the body to the family after autopsy. The case has yet to be registered till this report was filed.

A former unit incharge of MQM was shot dead in Paposh Nagar, area of Chandni Chowk within the remits of Paposh police post. Police said Muhammad Rizwan aka Ashu, 40, was gunned down near his residence by unknown pillion riders.

The assailants managed to flee while the victim was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

A lawyer was killed and his father and a policeman were wounded in the remits of Baghdadi police station.

Police said that Shakeel Jan advocate, his father Ali Ahmed Jan residents of Bangush Mohalla, Gulbai were on the way to court when gunmen riding a motorbike intercepted the car (MAS-702) at ICI bridge and resorted to indiscriminate firing.

The assailants managed to flee while wounded Shakeel trying to reach hospital but collided with a police mobile which resulting a police constable  Shabbir was wounded. Police later rushed the injured to Civil Hospital Karachi where Shakeel succumbed to injuries while his father and a cop were admitted.

Police suspected that the motive behind the murder was sectarian.

Gadap City police found a tortured-body from the bushes near Rangers headquarters. Police took the body to morgue for identification after autopsy.
