Caretaker Information Minister Arif Nizami said Saturday that neither any personnel from the army or any other law enforcement agency (LEA) will be stationed inside polling stations.

Speaking to media after the federal cabinet meeting, Nizami added that army deployment in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan had been completed.

Nizami also informed reporters that caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso had directed intelligence agencies to share information with provinces.

The minister said elections, and not the accountability, was the responsibility of the caretaker government. He said the people through their vote will make their former representative accountable.

The cabinet approved changing the name of Ministry of National Regulation and Services to Health Coordination and Regulation Division and bring all the health related departments under it.

The cabinet meeting noted that despite slight improvement in the overall law and order situation, dangers still persist. The meeting stressed the need for improving coordination among the intelligence agencies and LEAs.

The meeting said the elections would be held on time despite the death of election candidates and other violent incidents.

Nizami said the prime minister paid tribute to the LEAs for maintaining law and order despite all odds.

He also appealed to the media to play its role in holding of free, fair and transparent elections.

The prime minister also took notice of the deaths due to measles and ordered remedial measures.
