ISLAMABAD - Caretaker Prime Minister Justice(Retd) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso has summoned the Federal Cabinet meeting today(Saturday) to give approval to the security plan for May 11 general elections besides a number of other measures government had devised for holding the polls in free, fair and transparent fashion.

The cabinet would also fine-tune the proposals for preparation of the budget 2013-14 under considerations of the Federal Finance Ministry, which had also given briefing to the caretaker prime minister on Friday. The caretaker cabinet would be given detailed briefing on the security measures to be taken by the Federal Government to assist the provincial governments in conducting the elections in free and fair fashion.

Meanwhile, Caretaker Interior Minister Malik Mohammad Habib Khan Friday said the federal government would utilise all available resources to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

He was talking to an EU observer delegation led by Michael Gahler here at the Interior Ministry. "To hold free and transparent elections in the country is the top priority of caretaker set-up," he added.

The minister assured the delegation of full security during electioneering in general and on polling day in particular.

Reciprocating, the delegation head thanked the minister for his cooperation.
