First MML meeting today

LAHORE - The first Muttahida Muslim League (MML) steering committee meeting will be held in the City today (Thursday) to discuss matters like devising future political strategy, formation of committees aimed at contacting other political forces, plan for holding public meetings and crafting a Charter to solve the problems of the masses, TheNation has learnt. The meeting will be held at the provincial secretariat of Like-Minded Group under the chairmanship of Mir Zafar Ullah Jamali, MMLs steering committee convenor. Leaders of various factions of Muslim Leagues now in MML fold, will attend the moot. They include Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, chief of Awami Muslim League, Ijaz-ul-Haq, president PML-Z, Pir Sadr-ud-Din Rashdi, senior leader of PML-F, Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah, former chief minister Sindh and PML-F leader, Mian Azhar, veteran Leaguer and former governor Punjab and PML-Q (Like-Minded Group) leaders, Hamid Nasir Chattha, Saleem Saif Ullah, Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri, Humayun Akhtar Khan and Kashmala Tariq. The MML sources told this scribe that meeting though having open end agenda will focus on overall future political strategy, formation of committees for holding of public meetings etc. The MML Charter would also outline its manifesto. According to sources, MML leaders would discuss the 'timings for making contacts with leaders of other political forces especially the PML-Q and PML-N ranks as well as the estranged leaders of various factions of Muslim League. When contacted, Ijazul Haq, chief of PML-Z confirmed reports vis-a-vis agenda of MMLs moot. To a query, Ijaz said that MML was an alliance comprising some factions of Muslim League and it would remain an alliance even when more factions of the Leagues would join it. He also said that founding parties of MML have provided a platform for the like-minded political forces especially the Muslim League factions to join hands to counter forces opposed to Pakistan ideology.
