If mobile snatching, car theft, robberies and target killings were not enough, there is also the practice of hide snatching of animals sacrificed during Eid-ul-Azha. It is not a surprise that the security situation in the metropolis has deteriorated to such an extent that even sacrificial animals during religious festivities are not spared. Although Karachi police have set up a monitoring cell for the sole purpose of curtailing this trend, but one wonders whether to congratulate them for this initiative or to criticize them for allowing the situation to get so much out of hand in the first place.
