Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper I would like to speak about the education system in Pakistan and what needs to be done to improve it so as to make it into a better country with good human resource and educated and trained masses. The education system of Pakistan has become so horrific and has become so disappointing that most people would like to send their children abroad for education. Pakistan is ranked at 113 out of 120 registered UN members’ countries according to the report by UNESCO. As per human development report Pakistan is placed at 136th position for having just 49.9% educated population.
The main problem arises due to the differences in public and private education. This has developed a class system in the country. There is Urdu Medium and English Medium education.
The rural areas barely have proper schools and teachers which causes an increase in drop outs. Gender discrimination is also one of the main problems which decreases literacy rate in Pakistan. If the government utilizes its funds properly on developing the education system it could bring a great change in Pakistan. As a concerned citizen I care for Pakistan and would like to see a better Pakistan which we can only do if we change the education system. If the literacy rate increases only then can Pakistan head towards prosperity.
