LAHORE - Journalists unions condemned the November 3 emergency imposed by the Musharraf-led regime and termed the step as black day in the country’s history, demanding the government to bring the responsible to justice.

Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists and Punjab Union of Journalists on Sunday staged protests against the Nov 3 emergency. PFUJ organised a seminar at a local hotel where number of journalists, lawyers and people from different walks of life took part. They spoke on the matter in its historic perspective and emphasised upon the freedom of press and supremacy of law.

 They said it is the Constitution that provides them the right to information.

Punjab Union of Journalists also staged a protest outside the Press Club and LPC president Arshad Ansar, secretary Shahbaz Mian, other office-bearers and number of journalists took part in it. They were holding placards and banners and chanted slogan against the government heads responsible for imposing emergency. They demanded the PML-N government to punish the responsible ones in accordance with the law.
