ISLAMABAD - Rehan Afridi’s brave effort went in vain, as Rawalpindi enforced an 8-wicket defeat on Abbottabad in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2013-14 second round match played here at Pindi Cricket Stadium Sunday. Rawalpindi achieved the 62-run target in 18 overs losing 2 wickets. Naveed Malik remained unbeaten on 32. Earlier, a brilliant 104 by Rehan helped Abbottabad to avoid innings defeat. Haseeb Azam took 4 for 76. In Group II, the match between Karachi and Islamabad ended in a draw. Islamabad needing 287 for victory managed to score 131-5 when stumps were drawn. Faizan Riaz hammered 84. Mir Hamza took 2 for 40. Earlier, Karachi Whites were all out for 251. Saad Ali remained unbeaten 118. Immad Wasim and Shahzad Rana shared 3 wickets each.–Staff Reporter
