LAHORE - Lahore DIG (investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed has dismissed from service three sub-inspectors on the charges of misuse of power, faulty investigation and dereliction from duty. A police spokesperson said on Sunday that the DIG also awarded various punishments to policemen including reversion in ranks, stoppage of annual increments, and forfeiture of service. The DIG awarded punishments while listening to the appeals of different police officials from the rank of inspector to constable.

Property dealer shot dead: A 30-year-old real estate agent was shot dead during a scuffle outside his shop in the Wahdat Colony area, police said on Sunday.  Police investigators said that resident of Al-Hamad Colony, Tufail Zaheer, was shot dead when Yasir Butt along with his three accomplices opened straight fire on him. The killers fled the scene. Police said that the killers had developed a dispute with the deceased over property. The police have registered a murder case against the killers on the complaint of Zaheer Sheikh, father of the deceased. The complainant told the police that the killing of his son was a preplanned murder. The police are investigating with no arrest made yet.

Killer: The South Cantonment police are interrogating a man in connection with the murder of an official of the Elite police force. The accused person, identified as Shahid, told the police that Constable Qaiser was killed during aerial firing at a wedding ceremony in the south cantonment police limits on Saturday. 

According to the killer, police said, he was heavily drunk when he had resorted to aerial firing.

After the autopsy, the police handed over the body to the deceased’s family. Further investigation is underway.
