Considerably decrease in occurrence of dengue larva has kindles the district administration hope to rein in the outbreak.

“Dengue outbreak will be controlled in one week as ratio of occurrence of dengue larva has dipped considerably as a result of surveillance of over 7000 spots a day, DCO Zahid Saleem Gondal declared on Tuesday.

Addressing a meeting held here in connection with dengue control, the DCO added that the eradication of dengue larva at outdoor places has been ensured. “Now we need all-out support from the people to win this war as we need to stop the growth of this mosquito inside homes and offices,” he added. He disclosed that he had sent a summary to the government for constituting permanent teams for the eradication of dengue. “We’ve asked the government to constitute dengue squads on pattern of Lahore and provide us with machinery and human resource,” he added. The DCO directed the concerned officials to check the rooftops of all warehouse and big hotels and shift scrapped goods from there. He revealed that 188 spray machines had been given to four towns to launch a massive fumigation drive.

He warned the dengue staff that he would personally visit areas and monitor the drive. He directed the Medical Superintendent of Nishtar Hospital to offer treatment facilities to the patients for free.
