LAHORE - Iftikhar Ahmed of Lahore Gymkhana has turned out to be successful one in Syed Manzoor Hussain Memorial Golf Tournament contested over 18 holes at the par 72, Lahore Gymkhana golf course.

A total of 30 senior golf professionals, who are now past 50 years of age and have been top ranked professional players of the country in the past, took part in the event. Syed Manzoor Hussain was an eminent golfer of the past who played golf for over 50 years at Lahore Gymkhana and the event is organised by his son Syed Shagil Hussain, who is currently settled in United States and comes to Pakistan every year for this annual event. In this way, Shagil also fulfills his urge for improving the lot of the Pakistani professional golfers.

Iftikhar demonstrated wholesome golfing skills during the 18 holes round and concluded the competitive round with a gross score of 71, one under par. Akbar Ali had to be content with the runner-up slot while Manzoor Ahmed came third.

In amateur category, the gross winner was Mian Khurshid while Nasir Irshad won second gross. The net first was won by Mian Javed Ali and Akhter Hayat captured second net. At the end, Syed Shagil gave away prizes to the winners in a well-attended prize distribution ceremony.
