SIALKOT -Business experts apprised a seminar, that was jointly organised by the KSE and KASB Securities, about investment methods, the facilities being providing for the investors and the steps to protect the same.

Addressing the seminar through a video link, Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) Managing Director Nadeem Naqvi briefed the participants about the KSE efforts in this regard. Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Mansur Ahmed presided over the seminar. A large number of the Sialkot based traders, industrialists, exporters, investors, professionals, bankers, doctors and donors attended the seminar.

KASB Securities Shahid Ali Khan CEO highlighted the methods of investment in the stock market. Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) Deputy Director Murtaza Abbas spoke on SECP’s policies of investors’ education, capital market supervision and corporate governance promotion.

Addressing the participants, the SCCI president said that the exporters are the roaming ambassadors who travel around the world to fetch business. He said the export earnings of Sialkot stand at US$ 1.8 billion annually. He added that Sialkot exporters earned precious foreign exchange to the tune of US $ 1.8 billion annual and played a pivotal role in the strengthening of national economy and boosting the exports.

The SCCI president gave a detailed briefing on Sialkot’s unique export culture and Sialkot’s marvelous socio-economic development on self-help basis by Sialkot business community.

He said that export-oriented Sialkot city has successfully followed the examples of Japan, Germany, Korea, Taiwan and other countries in development of SME culture as the Sialkot based SMEs have been producing only exportable items and enjoy special status in the international market for its products.

“The government and other financial institutions are lending support to the export sector and we are foreseeing growth of exports and development of SMEs at a fast pace in Sialkot,” he said.

The participants were told that Sialkot is the only export-oriented city of Pakistan where 99 percent industrial production is meant for exports. The products including sports goods, surgical instruments, leather products, textile items, martial arts uniforms & accessories, musical instruments, knives & cutlery items and military uniform badges etc, produced in Sialkot are exported.

Sialkot-made footballs, hockey sticks, cricket gears and sports wears are used in Olympics, world cups, Asian games and other international events. He said that the Sialkot businessmen had better awareness about the industrial set-up of Sialkot and socio-economic development projects.

He added that globalisation has brought the countries closer and trade and other barriers are being removed to provide good opportunity for improving bilateral and multilateral relations.

Undoubtedly, he said, universal remedy of the developing world lies in a vibrant and vigorous economy, which alone could address poverty alleviation and un-employment.
