Six persons including three women committed suicides over different issues while a man was poisoned and another crushed to death in separate incidents on Tuesday.

A motorcyclist was crushed to death by a speeding car on Sahiwal-Arifwala Road on Tuesday. The deceased, identified as Abdul Rehman, was on the way to Sahiwal from Bahwalnagar. When he reached near Shehreen turn, the speeding car hit the bike, killing him on the spot.

The police have started investigation into the incident. In Chak 67/5L, 50-year-old Muhammad Afzal ended his life after consuming poisonous medicines, 45-year-old Muhammad Iqbal took pesticides in Chak 160/9L over some family dispute and died while Awais, 20, son of Muhammad Zakria, resident of Ghala Mandi Sahiwal committed suicide over failure to tie the knot with the girl of his choice.

In another incident, 80-year-old Muhammad Ameer died after consuming toxic juice in a passenger bus in village Kool Banglow wala 101/6R. Unidentified accused gave him poisonous juice while travelling in a passenger bus. The accused also robbed him of valuables including cash. He fainted and was rushed to DHQ hospital Sahiwal but he could not survive.

Similarly, newly-married Azra, wife of Ahmed Ali, a resident of Chak 112/9L committed suicide by taking poison after a quarrel with her husband over some family issues.

Naseem Bibi, 20, wife of Muhammad Rafique, a resident of Chak 48/5L ended her life after consuming toxic liquid, reportedly, over some domestic issues. Whereas Kalsoom Bibi, 23, wife of Bhasir Ahmed, a resident of Chak 139/9L also committed suicide by taking pesticide spray allegedly over quarrel with her husband.

4 of a family, another killed in collision

Five persons including two women and an infant were killed in a head-on collision between a car and van on Tuesday. Six others also suffered injuries in the accident that occurred on Kala Khatai Road near Mughal Ghorian stop.

Reportedly, four members of a family were on the way to Narowal from Lahore in a car. As the car reached near Mughal Ghorian stop, a passenger van coming from the opposite direction, collided with the car. As a result all the four family members identified as Shahzad, his mother Rasoolan Bibi, wife Arbab Bibi and her infant Fajr died instantly. While a woman passenger of the van, whose identity could not be ascertained yet, also died on the spot. And six other passengers suffered injuries, two of them critical, and were shifted to nearby hospital. The Ferozewala Police have started investigation while the van driver fled from the site.
