ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that the cancer of terrorism will not be allowed to spread in the country.
“The cancer of terrorism will not be allowed to spread among the future generations. Terrorism has caused an enormous loss of life and property in Pakistan. The government, armed forces and people are united to eliminate this scourge,” he said while addressing the Pakistan Investment Conference (PIC) held here on Wednesday under Investment Board (IB).
“The day is not far off when peace will prevail in the country. The menace of terrorism is being weeded out for the sake of revival of national economy,” he said.
The premier went on to say, “We have taken initiatives to make Pakistan a dignified country. Establishment of a prosperous society is our commitment. Future of Pakistan lies in an independent and democracy loving country”.
He said that Pakistani nation had decided that their future hinged upon a democratic and a liberal country.
“The PML-N’s success in local government polls is a manifestation of peoples’ trust in government policies,” he said.
Nawaz observed that the government was pursuing a policy to revive the economy. “We have to take tough decisions to find our destination of progress and development. We had to take difficult decisions to steer the country out of challenges,” he said.
“We are doing all this for the bright future of Pakistani,” he said adding that the government has achieved significant targets during the last two and a half years.
Nawaz said that restructuring a prosperous society was their target. The private sectors role was very vital for the revival of national economy and economic growth.
“Investors should join hands with the government in the development of the country,” he urged.
“The government is taking up projects in a transparent manner. We have to provide education and healthcare facilities to every child of the nation. International financial institutions are convinced of progress of the country on economic front,” he said.
While listing out government achievements on the economic front, he said that the government has paid circular debt amounting to Rs480 billion which was a big achievement. “Loans are being given to youth for doing business and 50 per cent loans have been given to women under the PM loan scheme,” he pointed out.
Nawaz said that the PM House’s expenses have been curtailed by 40 per cent. “Now, our focus is not only on revival of energy sector but also fulfilling the energy requirements of the country for the next 20 years,” he said.
“We are manufacturing three major gas power plants. We have reached an agreement with Russia for laying a gas pipeline. We are importing more gas to meet the needs of the country,” he said.
“We will end load shedding from ther country till 2017,” the prime minister announced.
While talking about the China-Pakistan Corridor (CPC) project, he said that the project would pave the way for achieving new destinations of prosperity. “Around 25 industrial zones are being built as part of the CPC project,” he added.
