This is about the head scarf and burkini. ‘Burkini’ is a head-to-ankle bathing suit that serves as a cover for Muslims. In the wake of the Bastille Day terrorist attack in Nice, that killed 86 people, about 30 French mayors banned the burkini at local beaches, saying it was a “provocation” to see women in Muslim garb when people were still grieving. This started a debate in Europe about whether Muslim women should cover their heads and bodies. In France traditional women argued that to wear what they want on their heads is fundamental human right.
