Preachers urge peace

LAHORE - Known religious scholars Maulana Jamilur Rehman and Haji Abdul Wahab delivered lectures on second day of annual Tablighi congregation at Raiwind.

The first phase of the four-day Ijtima started on Thursday and it will end on Sunday morning following prayer of religious scholar.

During yesterday’s sermons, Maulana Jamil and Haji Wahab laid stress on peace and unity among mankind. They said Islam is religion of peace and it dissociate itself from those who spread violence and hatred. 

During the four-day event, Maulana Jamilur Rehman, Haji Abdul Wahab, Maulana Tariq Jamil, Maulana Muhammad Ahmad Bahawalpuri and Maulana Saad Kandhalvi would address the participants. 

The first phase of the annual Tableeghi Ijtima (preaching congregation) began in Raiwind on Thursday with thousands of pilgrims from Pakistan and abroad attending the religious event.  Since 2007, up to four-day annual congregation has been divided into two phases due to administrative and security reasons in the small area of Raiwind.

In the first phase, pilgrims from Interior Sindh, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Dir, Peshawar, Swat, and Haripur to Gilgit are arriving in Raiwind. In the second phase, people from Karachi, Quetta and other parts of Balochistan, Bahawalpur, Multan, Dera Ismail Khan, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Bannu, Kohat and Mardan will join in.

People coming from different parts of the world have been accommodated according to their convenience and travel schedule.

Various dignitaries and politicians will also visit the congregation where special sittings and lectures will be arranged for the participants.
