Maulana Hamidul Haq son of late Maulana Samiul Haq has been named as the acting chief of JUI-S on Sunday.

Maulana Samiul Haq, a religious scholar and former senator stabbed to death at his residence in Rawalpindi on Friday.

“I have become an orphan,” Hamidul Haq said after being announced as the party's acting chief. “Current party positions of all the members will remain the same.”

"Those who have killed Maulana Samiul Haq should be arrested immediately", he added.

According to him, my father was taking rest at his residence and driver and the gunman had gone out of the home. When they returned they found the body of Maulana lying in a pool of blood.

Police has taken Maulana Samiul Haq’s two domestic staff members into custody for questioning.

The staff workers told police that two men visited the JUI-S chief before his assassination.
