Some PPP leaders are strongly opposing their joining but some are supporting, sources in PPP told The Nation here on Friday. PML-Q leaders including Sherazi brothers and former chief minister Ali Mohammad Mahar and his brother, Ghotki Nazim, Ali Gohar Mahar, and MNA Ghous Bakhsh Mahar are willing to join PPP. PML-Q stalwarts are eager to join PPP and started backdoor diplomacy in PPP ranks to join PPP. Sherazi brethren from Thatta, who were closed aides of former Sindh chief minister Arbab Rahim, ruled the Thatta district after 2002 election. Sherazi brethren, who after 2002 election, made turn coat and joined the PML-Q saying goodbye to the PPP and according to local leaders of the PPP they made the lives of PPP voters and supporters in Thatta district miserable. It is worth mentioning here that before holding the 2007-08 election, Sherazi brethren approached PPP slain chairperson Benazir Bhutto of joining the PPP but she refused them adding that this is decided by the local leadership of Thatta and Sindh PPP leaders . The powerful Sherazi brethren who had large vote banks in Thatta but after the martyrdom of Benazir Bhutto their vote bank had badly affected and they won only one National Assembly seat and two provincial assemblies' seats from the Thatta district in February 18 election. Another group in PPP who is supporting Sherazi brethren bid of joining PPP saying that after the reconciliation process started by President Zardari, PPP should open its doors for the PML-Q leaders to join the PPP. They opined that if PPP made reconciliation with MQM which was an ally of the PML-Q then why not it is allowing the PML-Q leaders to reconcile with them. Mahar brethren had also good relations with the former president Pervez Musharraf and PML-F head Pir Pagaro but also kept cordial relations with the PPP top leaders and PPP Sindh leaders. After the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, Mahar brethren visited Naudero and offered condolences with the PPP co-chairman Asif Zardari.
