LAHORE - The Punjab Education Department has suspended 26 principals of different govt colleges on account of poor performance of their respective institutions in the BA/BSc Examination 2009 held by the Punjab University. The action has been taken against the heads of colleges with success rate 10 per cent or less in BA, BSc examinations. The decision was announced on Saturday while the action was contemplated at a high-level meeting with provincial Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman in chair on August 8 soon after the announcement of BA, BSc result. Additional Chief Secretary Javed Aslam, acting secretary education Ahad Cheema and other officials were also present in that meeting. The meeting was told that the result of 26 colleges was less than 10 per cent while not a single student from 14 of these institutions was able to pass the exams. The principals suspended by the government has been asked to report to DPI colleges with immediate effect. Three of these 26 colleges are of Lahore i.e. Government MAO College (08.75 per cent result in BSc, and 27 per cent result in BA), Government College for Boys Gulberg (zero per cent result) and Government College for Boys, Raiwind (BA 4 per cent, BSc zero per cent). Other colleges included Govt College Bochal Kalan, Chakwal (zero per cent), GC Bhaipheru, Kasur (zero per cent), Govt Taleem-ul- Islam College, Chenabnagar, Chiniot (7.69 per cent), GI Chiniot (8.33 per cent), Govt Farid Bux Ghosia Science Degree College Faridabad, TT Singh (8.5 per cent), Govt College Gojra (7.14 per cent), Govt College for Women, Rahwali, Gujranwala (zero per cent), Govt College, Chak No170/JB Jhang (zero per cent), Govt College for Women, Dina Jhelum (zero per cent), Govt Degree College, Jaranwala (9.09 per cent), Govt College, Kamoky, Gujranwala (5 per cent), Govt PST College Kamalia (zero per cent), Govt Shalimar College, Baghbanpura (8 per cent), Albaruny Govt College, Pind Dadan Khan (7.69 per cent), Govt PYS Degree College Phalia Mandi Baha-uddin (zero per cent), Govt Degree College Pattoki (zero per cent), Govt College Asgharmal, Rawalpindi (zero per cent). Govt College, Shakargarh (zero per cent), Govt Allama Iqbal College, Sialkot (zero per cent) Govt Allama Iqbal College for Women (9.52 per cent), Govt Jinnah Islamia College, Sialkot (zero per cent), and Govt College, Sumundri (with 5 per cent result).
