ISLAMABAD: PML-Q Parliamentary leader Faisal Saleh Hayat has said that the concerned national authorities have taken notice of the Rental Power Plants issue and he has provided them the documents against the installation of RPPs. Addressing a Press Conference here at PML house on Saturday, Faisal Saleh Hayat criticised Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf for his recent statement to media that the rental power projects would be initiated in June next year rather than in December2009. Raja Pervez Ashraf has issued a new 'kings order that RPPS will be initiated in June 2010. He is used to issuing statements then at once backing out and doing a total about face. He is continuously trying to make a fool out of people as Raja first said that there will be no load shedding in June 2009 then he set the time frame for December 2009 and now June 2010, Faisal said. He recalled that once PPP leader Khurshid Shah gave the statement on media that load shedding would not finish in December but Pervez Ashraf said that Khurshid Shah knew nothing. Before Ramazan, Raja said that there would be no load shedding during Sehr and Iftar, but there was not a single day when load shedding did not disturb the people, PML-Q leader said. Talking about the RPPs, he said that an important member of the cabinet Shaukat Tarin himself opposed the idea to initiate RPPS in the meeting of cabinet and Economic Coordination Committee (ECC). If Raja is annoyed for the criticism by me then he should first convince his own party and cabinet. I will never ask Raja for resignation, as it is an insult to the word 'Resignation, Faisal Saleh said. He has sent me a notice of one billion rupees for harming his fame and personality, but did he think that he had both these things ever? the PML-Q leader questioned. He added that the court had also issued his arrest warrant and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani had also told the whole story to the senate. He said that we had enough capability to generate electricity but all the generators did not generate according to their capacity. He said why the authorities did not ask IPPs to generate maximum capacity? He added that the Minister for Water and Power has failed to answer all his questions. He stressed that the country did not need these RPPs but the requirement was to generate maximum capacity from the already installed IPPs. RPPs are very costly and we will have to pay $4 billion as rent. Even Kerry-Lugar Bill cannot allow us for this initiative, Faisal said.
