KARACHI (APP) - India Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry President S M Muneer has urged that Pakistani exporters should be provided a level playing field for promoting exports to India. Chairing a meeting of India Pakistan CCI (Pakistan Chapter) in the capacity of its President, S.M. Muneer said the balance of trade between the two countries is completely in favor of India while Pakistan has a very nominal share in import of India despite its huge potential, said a statement from Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry here on Saturday. Muneer said there are number of non-tariff barriers being faced in export to India which are hampering Pakistani exports. He suggested that the cargo transportation facility between two countries should be more simplified on reciprocal basis, so that trading between both the countries could further flourish. He said that at the moment Pakistans export to India is confined to a limited number of items which is almost to the tune of dollars 500 million while Indian export to Pakistan in dollars two billion, a huge trade imbalance between these two countries which need to be redressed. He informed that IPCCI (Pakistan Chapter) has offered Indian side for holding of Executive Committee and General Assembly Meetings of IPCCI in Pakistan either in November or December 2009. In the next EC and GA meetings of IPCCI fresh proposals and suggestions will be discussed and recommendation come forth will be forwarded to the respective governments of both the countries. It was also decided in the meeting to form a trade delegation to India for interaction between the business communities, on the occasion of Indian International Trade Fair (14-27 November, 2009).
