MULTAN - Over 3.44 million bales of cotton reached ginneries across Pakistan till October 1, showing an increase of 23.17 per cent, stated a fortnightly report issued by Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) here Wednesday.

According to the report, cotton arrival was recorded at 3,447,163 bales, and of these 3,068,341 bales were ginned. Arrivals from Punjab were recorded at 1.82 million or 1,826,069 bales and in Sindh it stood at 1.6 million or 1,621,094 bales till Oct 1, 2012. Arrivals in Sindh surged by 77.82 per cent, however,Punjab witnessed a shortfall by 3.24 per cent. The report said that exporters have bought 36,740 bales of cotton, including 1000 bales from Punjab and 35,740 from Sindh. Textile millers have bought 2.8 million or 2,841,589 bales so far and the total sold-out stock stood at 2,841,589 bales. The stock of unsold bales was recorded at 605,574 bales, says the report.
