FAISALABAD - Under the Punjab Government’s Green Tractor Scheme, the computerised balloting to award tractors at subsidised rates to the farmers was held at Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Auditorium by the Agriculture Department.

A subsidy of Rs200,000 will be given at each tractor to the winners. MPAs Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Muhammad Islam, Joel Aamir Sahutra, Rai Ejaz Hussain Kharal, EDO Agriculture Ishtiaq Hassan, DO Coordination Muhammad Akram Bhatti and other officers, representatives of farmers were also present.

The DO said that the Punjab government had allocated a quota of 611 tractors for district Faisalabad and total number of applicants are 8,699 while 6,417 applications have been cleared after scrutiny. 

He said that 121 tractors had been allocated for the tehsil Faisalabad while 198 for tehsil Sadar, 70 for tehsil Tandilianwala, 63 for tehsil Samundri, 128 for tehsil Jaranwala and 31 for tehsil Chah Jhumra had been allotted for provision of subsidy. 

The MPAs and representatives of the farmers started balloting process by pressing a key of the computer.  Earlier, MPA Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, in his speech, said that the Punjab had focused its attention on the strengthening of agricultural sector for which various farmer-friendly policies had been introduced.

MPA Joel Aamir Sahutra lauded the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and said that the policies of present Punjab governmenthad been praised by the foreign countries as well. He claimed that the subsidy on the tractors was being provided to the successful applicants through transparent process.
