Commissioner takes notice of illegal hydrants

KARACHI  - Commissioner Karachi, Roshan Ali Shaikh, has taken notice of the existence of illegal hydrants in the metropolis and directed the respective deputy commissioners for a crackdown against these as well as the wells providing contaminated water.A statement on Wednesday said that Shaikh has instructed that such hydrants and well be closed down in three days’ time.He also sought daily report in this regard from the respective deputy commissioners in the city.It was informed that out of 114 illegal hydrants in the city 32 were dismantled.The Commissioner directed that the remaining 82 illegal hydrants should also be closed down in three days’ time.He also called for action against those who are involved in the water theft which subsequently results in water shortage in various areas of the city.
