BAHAWALPUR - A seminar titled "Sanctity of Holy Prophet Hazarat Muhammad (SAW) and the responsibilities of Ulema/Scholars" was held at Abbasia Campus of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur.

The event was arranged by the Faculty of Islamic Learning to develop awareness about the teachings of Islam.

Allama Fazal Rahim Ashrafi of the Jamia Ashrafia, Lahore, was the chief guest on the occasion. The Chief guest in his address remarked that it was the prime duty of the Ulema and scholars to promote the teachings of the Quran and Sunnah at all forums particularly among children and highlight salient features of the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH) being the best example in the world for all. He said that the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) could bring revolution in our lives for peace, progress, prosperity and success and could make us the models in the world whom one could rely on without any doubt. Therefore, he said, we had to perform our duties honestly and with responsibility to guide our children in the right direction for a civilized and well balanced peace-loving society.

He said that the Taif incident was the best example of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) for all in which he forgave all those who pelted stones on him (PBUH) and prayed for their betterment and welfare. This was one aspect of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)'s character and we had to follow it for our betterment and others guidance.

IUB Vice Chancellor Dr Muhammad Mukhtar in his message on the occasion, remarked that the blasphemous acts were highly condemnable as such acts hurt the Muslims. He said that the Muslims could not bear such movies.  He said that the life of the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is the beacon house for the whole of humanity from which everyone could take benefit so we have to follow the teachings of Islam for better life.

He said that the Seerat Chair of the IUB had been working to promote teachings of Islam and Sunnah through publications and through such kind of seminars.

Dean Faculty of Islamic Learning Dr Saleem Tariq Khan highlighted the importance of the topic and underlined the need for chalking out a strategy to control the blasphemous activities by the non-Muslims. He said that the Islamic countries had to take serious steps in this regard. He condemned the recent blasphemous attempts made to disgrace the Islam.
