UNITED NATIONS - Stepping up its relief efforts in the flood-hit areas, the United Nations said Wednesday that over 300,000 affected people were in urgent need of aid.

According to spokesman for the UN, Martin Nesirky, the word body and its partners have so far distributed 655 tons of food to more than half of the 20,000 families affected by flooding in Balochistan and Sindh provinces. Similarly, life-saving drugs had been given to more than 440,000 people in the affected districts of the Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh, added the UN official citing information from The Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
