LAHORE – Pakistan and Indian golfer will be in action in the three-round Friendship Cup Golf to be started Friday here at Royal Palm courses (first round) and Lahore Gymkhana course (second and third rounds). The host golfers accorded warm welcome to the 14-member Indian golf team which reached the city through Wagah border to compete against a 14-member Lahore golf team. The competition will be started Friday at the Royal Palm course and the teams play the alternate shot format. Then the teams move to Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course to play the remaining two rounds on Saturday and Sunday. On day two, the contest format will be the best ball and on the final day it will be singles. The winning team gets the trophy. The Indians will play a practice round today (Thursday) at the par 72 Royal Palm Golf Course, and as this is a norm for all kinds of international golf events, the golfers from across the border will go through the exercise, measuring up the golf course and getting a feel of the challenges to get themselves ready for day one of the event. The golfers team from India comprising mixture of business and industry leaders who love with golf and consider this occasion as the luckiest moment of their lives.  Though the competition would produce a contest of good and quality golf and winning or losing is not too important yet the whole aim is to build friendships over three-day of memorable golf rounds.  Shoaib Bokhari explained that this contest would be held twice a year and ‘Together We Golf Team’ will travel to India after six months as a part of this regular feature.
