Perveen Shakir Trust to pay tribute to Faiz

ISLAMABAD - Perveen Shakir Trust will organise a special two-day programme to pay tribute to Faiz Ahmad Faiz through stage performance entitled, “Faiz ki kahani - Kuch un ki kuch hamari zabani”. The two-day colourful programme will be held from 6 to 7 October at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) auditorium. Qavi Khan, renowned TV and Film star, will enact as Faiz.
Rahat Multanikar, the talented singer, will also be the part of this programme and will sing Faiz. It is a tribute to Faiz through this unique dramatic production.
The programme will be presented in two parts. The first part will be devoted to the distribution of awards whereas the second part will comprise of a theatrical performance to highlight Faiz and his poetry.
Perveen Shakir Trust has a tradition to give away awards for the best poetry of the year. The awards were pending since last three years.
According to the jury of the awards of the Annual Perveen Shakir, “Aks-e-Khushbu Award” for the best poetry book of the year will be given away to Shehzad Nayyar for “Chak se Utre Wajood” (2009), Hassan Abbasi for “Ik Sham Tumharay Jaisi” (2010) and Ahmed Ata Ullah for “Hamaisha” (2011).
The annual gold medals will be granted to three students of different universities standing first in the MA English exam for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011.
