Russian foreign minister arrives in Islamabad


ISLAMABAD - The Foreign Minister of Russian Federation, Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov’ arrived here on Wednesday on a two-day visit for bilateral consultations.
Lavrov is visiting Pakistan on the invitation of Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar during her February visit to Moscow. The visiting dignitary will have bilateral consultations with his Pakistani counterpart on Thursday (today) that will be followed by a joint Press conference. He will also call on President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.  The Russian FM will sign agreements to boost the capacity of Pakistan Steel Mills and performance of Railways and will also discuss possibility of investment in Basha Dam.
Recently, the two countries held their Second Inter- Governmental Commission (IGC) on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Islamabad and discussed concrete proposals in various fields.
