Expressing grave concern over the reported impasse in the process of industrialization in AJ&K mainly due to the lack of requisite infrastructure and poor policies of the institutions concerned, the business fraternity of AJK has demanded effective measures to revive these functionaries to ensure survival of industrial sector in the region.

The local business community, through their main representative forum - the AJK Chamber of Commerce and Industry have demanded immediate grant of attractive incentives to ensure true industrial progress in the state particularly through the revival of about 90 of the sick Industrial units in the Industrial areas of Mirpur and Bhimbher districts.

Alarming indication to the fast deteriorating situation of industrial sector in AJK was given by the speakers in the annual general meeting of the AJKCCI held here - wherein the newly-elected office-bearers took oath of their offices for the 2013-14. Speakers including the newly-elected AJKCCI President Ch Azeem Mushtaq, former Presidents including Zulfiqar Abbasi, Ch Muhammad Saeed, Mian Khalid Rafiq and Raja Muhammad Jamil as well as executive committee members Sohail Shujah Mujahid, Ch Khalid Hussain, Raja Khalid Mahmood, Election Commissioner Khawaja Zaffar Iqbal, Secretary Ch Muhammad Shafique and others said that the industrial estates in Mirpur and Bhimbher had turned into graveyards of the industries because of the lack of basic infrastructural facilities.

Earlier, Kh Zaffar Iqbal announced the result of the AJKCCI elections declaring Azeem Mushtaq Ch as unopposed elected President, Nasir Bashir (Senior Vice President and Sohaib Saeed (Vice President), the s/o Ch Muhammad Saeed (Former President FPCCI and AJKCCI).

Speakers called upon the AJK government to move forward to ensure revival of rapidly collapsed industrial sector in AJK by ensuring early supply of the much need amenities including uninterrupted power supply, natural gas and water to the industrial estates.
