Lahorites will witness exemplarily cleanliness on Eidul Azha, as the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has made improved arrangements.

These views were expressed by Lahore Waste Management Company Managing Director Khalid Majeed while addressing media person during a press conference in his office on Friday.

“We have also shared our consolidated plan with other stakeholders such public representatives so that fruitful input can be obtained and plan can be implemented in its true spirit,” he further added.

The LWMC staff will remain present during Eid holidays to ensure uninterrupted and smooth provision of services. The company has hired additional vehicles and machinery for the collection and disposal of animal waste expected to be generated in large amount i.e 25 to 30 thousand tons.

Number of waste bags for the collection of offals has also been increased from 0.5million to 0.7million to facilitate citizens. Distribution of bags has begin in the form of door to door campaigns and people can also obtain these bags from major stores and from LWMC camps set up in each union council.

Turkish contractor companies Albayrak and Ozpak will also ensure their support in the form of timely dispatching of vehicles to lift waste containers and mechanized sweeping and washing of city’s roads, underpasses, bridges and furnishers.

Preparations for best cleanliness at and around major prayer venues have been finalized. In case of any query or suggestion, it has been requested to do call on helpline 1139, LWMC camps or zonal offices. According to spokesperson, LWMC has also included Railway colonies, Cantonment Board areas and cooperative societies in its plan and special arrangements will be made to collect and transport waste generated in these areas.
