The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested 17 alleged human traffickers in several cases in Gujranwala Division during a crackdown.

FIA Regional Deputy Director Ch Khalid Anees said that six main teams of FIA raided various places and arrested the accused indulged in illegal business of sending people abroad especially to European and Gulf countries after extorting big amounts from them.

He revealed that a team of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested Khawaja Najam, Nadeem and Shafiq from Sialkot. It raided the travel agency of the accused located at the Sialkot city’s congested Shahabpura locality. It also recovered 20 passports, fake stamps, embossing stamps and fake documents of different embassies.

He said that the FIA had also arrested some other accused indulged in the illegal business of the money exchange. It has sent the accused behind bars after registering separate cases.

TWO HELD AFTER SHOOTOUT: The FIA arrested two notorious human traffickers - Ramzan and Asim from the outskirts of Lahore after a shootout. The accused were wanted by the agency in several cases of human trafficking.

Deputy Director FIA Gujranwala Region Ch Khalid Anees said that on a tip-off an FIA team led by Assistant Director Ch Muhammad Sarwar raided a den located in the outskirts of the Lahore. The FIA arrested both the notorious human traffickers after an hour-long shootout with them.The accused were stated to be “king” of the illegal business of sending the innocent people abroad, especial European, African and Gulf countries after extorting big amounts.

PESTICIDES SEIZED: A special team of Agriculture Department recovered a big quantity of spurious pesticides worth Rs1.1 million from a shop of accused Asghar Sulehri near Lorry Adda Zafarwal. Deputy District Officer (Agriculture) Zafarwal Arif led the team. Police arrested the accused besides sealing the shop after registering a case against the accused.
