LAHORE - Fast bowler Imran Khan is in hot water because of his aggressive and irresponsible behaviour towards match officials during domestic National Twenty20 Cup final in Rawalpindi.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is taking his case seriously and has issued show-cause notice to the cricketer for violating code of conduct. “Imran Khan has breached the code of conduct of the cricket board during the recently-concluded National T20 Cup held in Rawalpindi. He not only misbehaved with the umpire but also pushed him and used abusive language against him for which he wwas fined 50 per cent of match fee. The board has issued a show-cause notice to the cricketer while a stern action is expected against him,” the sources said.
The cricketer from Peshawar region can face a ban of three to five matches in case he surrenders, but if he refuses to accept the charges then inquiry against him will start from the beginning. The sources have said that the case against Imran Khan is very strong and the board is not going to show any flexibility in this case. “Imran Khan is a part of national team which is going to play Test series against England and the sources claimed that punishment to Imran Khan will be postponed till England series. Imran has received the show-cause notice from the board,” the sources added.
