LAHORE (PR) - The proposed privatisation of the most profitable Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) would be against the public interest. The Senate and National Assembly Committee on Water & Power have already opposed the privatisation of profitable companies of electricity in its earlier meetings.

The privatisation of electricity has already failed miserably in Rawalpindi, Multan, and Karachi electricity supply private companies. It had been even acknowledged by the Government of Pakistan itself. The privatisation of electricity would be against the public interest since it is basic need of the citizens.

The workers would launch countrywide protest on 7th Octoberagainst the proposed privatisation. This statement was issued by Khurshid Ahmed, General Secretary of All Pakistan WAPDA Hydro Electric Workers Union on Saturday.
