The relatives of a patient, who died at District Headquarters Hospital Jhang on Friday, thrashed a doctor and a dispenser, and also damaged the medical equipment and other things thereby causing strike of doctors and paramedics.
Ilyas, a resident of Jhang Saddr, was working on the second floor of his home. Meanwhile, he fell down and sustained head injury. He was taken to Trauma Centre of the hospital but the doctor on duty was not at room and he was visiting wards.
The dispenser informed Dr Luqman who came and attended the Ilyas and declared that the latter had expired before reaching the hospital at. The relatives of deceased flared up and attacked the doctor and the dispenser. They also broke machinery, doors and furniture of the hospital. They claimed that Dr Luqman was not at duty, he came late due to which Ilyas expired.
They said that their patient expired due to the negligence and carelessness of Dr Luqman. Soon after the mishap, all the doctors and paramedics of District Headquarters Hospital Jhang went on strike and stopped working even in emergency.
They claimed that the doctor was present at duty and he was examining patient in emergency ward. He attended Ilyas but he was expired before reaching the hospital.
They said that they would start working after the provision of proper security.
Medical Superintendent Mumtaz Sial and Additional Medical Superintendent Dr Zafar Khan assured them of proper security at which the doctors and paramedics staff announced to end strike.
