Obesity has been described as one of the fastest growing diseases world wide. It is the root cause of many other diseases. It is estimated that 1.7 billion people world wide are either overweight or obese. Pakistan is ranked 9th among world’s most obese nations. Obesity is most commonly caused by a combination of excessive food intake, lack of physical activity, and genetic susceptibility. The trend of consuming junk food, physical inactivity, and eating more than the required amount are the leading causes of obesity among people. Most of the people do not follow a balanced diet schedule due to their busy routine. Sedentary activities including sitting, reading, socialising, watching television, playing video games, and computer usage play a significant role in obesity. 

Exercise is necessary for a healthy life as it helps digest the food taken by the human body. The amount of calories one takes should be managed through regular physical exercise. I would like to share my personal experience regarding exercise. I started to walk daily for one hour in the month of August 2016. I adopted the formula of “eat less, walk more” and replaced my heavy lunch with light food. At the start of the month, my weight was 84 kgs and now it is 78.5 kgs. Amazingly, I have lost around five kilograms in a month. By the grace of God, I feel more healthy and attentive now. Performing tasks has also become easier. So, I request all the citizens to adopt a lifestyle that involves regular exercise, so they can lead a healthy life.
