Islamabad in control against SSGC in QAT

ISLAMABAD-Islamabad Region were in supreme control against SSGC as they finished day three at 21-0 in their second innings in Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2016-17 round one pool A match here at Diamond Cricket Ground on Monday.

Islamabad, having 56-run lead with all 10 wickets in hand, would enter the fourth and final day of the match today (Tuesday) and are almost certain to get three pints on the basis of first innings lead. Earlier, SSGC resumed their first innings at the overnight score of 95-0 in 32 overs and were bowled out for 382 runs, conceding 35-run first innings lead. Adil Amin slammed 90, Amir Yamin unbeaten 77 and Fawad Alam 68. Shahzad Azam Rana grabbed 5-93 while Hamza Nadeem got 3-58.

In pool B match played at Pinid Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi needed further 87 runs for victory against KRL, as chasing 243 runs for victory, they finished day three at 156-6. Fighting unbeaten 62 runs by skipper Sohail Tanveer was highlight of the day. Sadaf Hussain clinched 3-70 and M Abbas got 2-35.

Earlier, KRL resumed their second innings at the overnight score of 110-4 and were bowled out for 181 in 64 overs. It was 41-run last-wicket stand, which gave respectability to KRL score and could prove fatal for Rawalpindi. Abdul Rehman made 63. Attaullah grabbed 5-53 and Abid 2-39.
