GUJRAT-A top rhinoplasty surgeon demonstrated his dexterity and skills in performing various nose-jobs and the use of latest technologies in reshaping and resizing hooters for better appearance or improved breathing at a daylong training workshop for doctors held at Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH) here the other day.

The workshop titled “Rhinoplasty - Live Surgery” was organised by the University of Gujrat’s Nawaz Sharif Medical College (UoG-NSMC).

Dr Muhammad Ajmal, renowned rhinoplasty and ENT surgeon from Rawalpindi Medical College, delivered a lecture on latest medical practices and technologies being employed in nose corrections.

Dr Ajmal taught the participants how to prop up the facial symmetry of a patient by straightening a dip, narrowing the bridge or refining the tip of the nose. The participants watched with keen interest the use of latest techniques employed by Dr Ajmal to improve the breathing function of a patient by rebuilding the nasal passage.

“Practical skills training of medical students hold a vital significance for them to function effectively in this profession. I am really pleased that the NSMC has been organising workshops, seminars and conferences on various topics regularly and inviting top experts to foster the learning of practical skills among its students,” UoG VC Dr Ziaul Qayyum said in his speech on the occasion.

The University of Health Sciences will award 6-hour CME accreditation to medical students who participated in the workshop.

NSMC Principal Dr Zafar Iqbal Gill informed that administration of the Nawaz Sharif Medical College always strive for excellence, adding that workshops and seminars provide the students with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and practical skills.

The workshop was attended by a large number of doctors from Gujranwala division, ENT specialists from district Jhelum, CMH Kharian, Okara, Gujranwala, Mangla, Saidu Sharif Medical College, Mingora, Swat, as well as local doctors, NSMC faculty and students.
