LAHORE - Punjab will provide 50 vials of anti-diphtheria serum (ADS) to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Punjab has earlier provided 170 vials of ADS to KP for controlling diphtheria outbreak.

It was decided at a meeting chaired by Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Kh Salman Rafiq at Emergency Operation Centre of Directorate General Health Services Punjab yesterday.

Director General Health Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Director EPI Dr Muhammad Munir, Director CDC Dr Asim, Additional Director General Dengue Control Program Dr Fayyaz Butt, Director MNCH Program Dr Nasir and WHO representative Dr Mazhar Qureshi attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the situation of Diphtheria, Congo and dengue and evaluated performance of polio teams during three-day campaign.

The meeting was informed that 34,000 children have been vaccinated in district Kasur to control diphtheria.

Moreover, 1200 doses of Penta vaccine have been provided to district Sheikhupura. It was informed that Health Department Punjab has placed order to procure another stock of 2500 vials of ADS. It was decided to call meeting of EPI steering committee.
