Wah cantt - The residents of Taxila, Taxila Cantt and Wah Cantt are facing the worst type of electricity loadshedding nowadays and the phenomenon of unscheduled electricity loadshedding is also picking up pace, as the consumers have been facing up to 18-hour a day power outages for the last two days.
The loadshedding has become an uncontrollable monster for the residents and it has brought the civic and commercial activities to a halt. Electricity consumers have criticised the Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO) for carrying out unscheduled, massive loadshedding, especially in rural areas.
Power outage has affected domestic life to a great extent. Women are facing numerous problems in carrying out domestic chores. Meanwhile, the traders and business outlets are irked by the disproportionate duration of power outages. The daily wagers hardly make both ends meet as most of the power-run industry has already been shut down.
Talking to this reporter, consumers alleged that Wapda has adopted discriminatory attitude towards them as compared to other areas where the loadshedding duration is low for the reason known to the authorities concerned.
The area residents demanded of the federal and provincial governments and the IESCO high-ups to take measures urgently to restore the electricity supply to the affected areas. People warned that they would hold protest if their demand is not met.
