OKARA - A woman committed suicide after her doctored pictures went viral on social media, said the local police here on Monday.
The dreadful incident took place in the limits of Haveli Lakha area of Okara district, where a woman ended her life after her doctored pictures went viral.
Police have arrested one accused in the case, while a case has been registered against four suspects. Raids were underway to arrest the remaining suspects in the suicide case.
Last month, a victim of gang rape allegedly committed suicide in village Mehran Soomro within the limits of Kaloi Town of Tharparkar. The body of the victim was sent to Taluka Hospital Dipol Town for postmortem. The girl was reportedly abducted by some ‘unknown’ persons five days back. Later, the kidnappers, after raping her, had left her at a deserted place near her village.
MAN KILLS BROTHER OVER PROPERTY DISPUTE
A man on Monday shot dead his brother over a property dispute in the area of Sandal Bar police station, Faisalabad. A police spokesman said here on Monday that Zeeshan of Chak 30-JB had been running a dispute with his brother Imran over property.
On Monday, an altercation took place between the two which enraged Imran, who opened fire and critically injured his brother Zeeshan. Zeeshan was rushed to a hospital but he succumbed to injuries at the intensive care unit. Police took the body into custody and started investigation. No arrest was made till filing of the report.
Moreover, a man was killed over old enmity in the jurisdiction of Miani police station, Sargodha on Monday. According to police, the incident took place at Chak Nizam where armed assailants allegedly opened fire at Akhtar Hussain, killing him on the spot. The accused managed to escape while the police shifted the body to hospital for autopsy. Police registered a case and started investigation.
Meanwhile, Samanabad police, Faisalabad have arrested three dacoits and recovered illicit weapons and other items from their possession. A police spokesman said here on Monday that the patrolling team stopped three suspects on Pepsi Road.
During an interrogation, it was revealed that the suspects were wanted to the police in a number of dacoity, robbery and other cases. The suspects were identified as Atif, Gulfam and Zubair. Police also claimed to recover illegal weapons, mobile phones and other items from them. Further investigation was underway, he added.
ROBBERS KILL MAN
A man was shot dead by robbers near Faisalabad on Monday. Rescue-1122 said that Sajjad, resident of Chak No 100-JB, Kurriwala was carrying cash when some bandits intercepted him near Bara Graveyard Narrwala Road and snatched cash from him at gunpoint. The outlaws also shot him dead when he offered resistance. The body was shifted to the Allied Hospital for postmortem.
